I have a secret.
A few actually, but I have noticed that most of my readers believe that I don’t. They think that because I am a confessional or spiller writer that I tell them everything.
They feel like they know me.
Who I really am.
Sorry to ruin the facade, but I barely know who I am these days, so my readers certainly can’t know me that well.
What is a ‘Spiller’ Writer
The term Spiller writer is synonymous with Confessional writer.
Not unlike the image that comes to mine of ink spilling all over the page as I write, a Spiller writer is someone who writes about themselves. They write personal essays, poems, blog posts, and other forms of writing based on their experiences. Some even model fictional characters after themselves in the books they write.
If you’re anything like me, you can talk about yourself all day long. The best part about being a Spiller writer is that I get paid to do it.
